This summer in Taipei, Thomas Doctor, Bill Duane, and Olaf Witkowski represented CSAS at 2024 Buddhism, Consciousness, and AI, the 5th Woodenfish Forum on Buddhism, Science, and Future. Thomas spoke on the bodhisattva as an alignment target, Bill analyzed the challenges and opportunities of care-driven intelligence in the corporate world, and Olaf presented fresh research on the dynamics of biology and technology integration. The conference brought together philosophers, scientists, and practicing Buddhists to take stock of where we are with AI and to explore how we might best learn from each other as we move forward.
